Here's a guy performing “evictions” on people in public space. Here he is in a series of “commercials” about his relationship with an old-style neon Coca-Cola billboard. Here he is singing his personal manifesto, “karaoke” style, to certifiably classic rock songs. Here he is again performing, as himself, in a self-made “artist profile video” ... Here, in the spirit of both intervention and celebration, confrontationally and comedically, I'm an artist that engages with the media and social customs through which we relate and express ourselves.
In particular, the medium of the cinema holds great fascination for me, perhaps because it is still the ultimate in mediated experience. Don’t we all live as a star in our own movie? Movies and TV have invaded me, like all the cultural forms I explore, and I in turn invade them. As I take a scene and frame it, so I take cultural frameworks and re-frame them. And as I make cuts in footage, so I make interruptions in social situations and structures.
